In his closing statements Dr. Güell called for a consolidation and optimization of current techniques, new ideas should be explored but cautiously and with honest objectivity. He asked the audience to remember "do not do to others what you would not do to yourself" and primarily do no harm, 'primum non nocere". Apple 2002 Jorge Alio 2004 Marguerite McDonald 2006 Steve Arshinoff In 1978 the UK Intraocular Implant Society (UKIIS), the forerunner to the UKISCRS, invited Rayner to sponsor a special lecture to be given every two years at a meeting of the Society. That tradition continues to this day. Over the years the Rayner Medal Lecture has been presented by many of the world's leading authorities on intraocular lenses and other aspects of cataract and refractive surgery. The Rayner Medal is made and engraved by the London silversmith company, Spink & Son Limited, established in 1666.
