Rayner T-flex® Aspheric Toric IOLs (573T and 623T) are a superior alternative to toric IOLs with a restricted range of torus and offer a precise, superior alternative to incisional keratotomy and Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) for the treatment of pre-existing corneal astigmatism. With T-flex® Aspheric Toric IOLs, the torus (cylinder) is implemented on the anterior surface of the optic and the Amon-Apple Enhanced Square Edge on the posterior surface.
T-flex® Aspheric Toric IOLs are particularly useful for those cataract patients where incisional methods would provide inadequate astigmatic correction. The choice of a T-flex® Aspheric Toric IOL leads to more precise surgical results, especially for cases of severe astigmatism: patients with a history of corneal pathology, keratoconus with penetrating keratoplasty (corneal grafts) and patients with burns and corneal scarring.
Unlike plate-haptic and multipiece toric IOLs, T-flex® Aspheric Toric IOLs have inherent rotational stability. Superb visual outcomes are achieved because of the dependable absence of rotation in lenses designed with Rayner’s AVH Anti Vaulting Haptics Technology. T-flex® Aspheric IOLs are also available in a far greater range of cylinder and sphere combinations than some other toric IOLs, which are made with only a limited range of cylindrical additions. T-flex® Aspheric Toric IOLs correct much higher astigmatism.
Rayner T-flex® Aspheric IOLs are currently manufactured as either model 573T or model 623T, having a 5.75mm optic or a 6.25mm optic respectively.
The model selection is made automatically by Rayner so that the largest possible diameter optic is supplied for any particular sphere / cylinder / injector nozzle combination.
Model 623T is designed for low and medium power lenses and is anatomically correct for the larger, myopic eye. Model 573T is designed for higher power lenses.
